lover’s vale
The
vale is formed by the surround of steep cliffs. There are
two waterfalls of different sizes in the vale. The splendid
large one in the left sends out great strong sound when it
rushes down into the pool, which may be compared as the roaring
of a man; the slender and zigzag small one in the right runs
slowly with a mild and sweet sound which sounds like the chuckling
of women. The two waterfalls, running in parallel, murmuring
to each other in such a harmony, are called ‘lover waterfall’.
The vale, with mountains and waters, pools and waterfalls,
bridges and stools, flowers and trees, claims a perfect place
for tryst. It is said to be the dating place where the young
Dayu(a king in ancient Chinese legend), at a age of expecting
lover, secretly met a mountain girl. If you take a look at
the steep, you will find a dent shaping in the crescent moon
on it. That is the moon which Dayu borrowed from Chang’e(the
goddess living in the moon in Chinese legend) to light for
his dating.
